Be sensible, use the right plumber
The recession means not only are customers watching their pockets but so are businesses. Many small businesses are cutting costs left right and center including hiring people who are not yet fully qualified. It is very important that the heating and plumbing industry does not follow this trend and keeps standards up and prices down.
Here are a few things you should look for to get a good quality plumber:
Up to date:
Heating and Plumbing Engineers are need to be legally certified by specific levels to prove the plumber is up to date on all laws and building codes, and working within any recent changes. For example all of these qualifications are required: The Building Regulations, BPEC, Gas Safe (for gas work), Part P (for Electrical work) and Unvented system training and assessment.
Green Peace:
It is important that your plumber is green. He or she needs to be in the know on all the domestic technology that is being developed. The world is turning eco-friendly, so engineers hired need to know about all the mod-cons for the environment to stay on top of the market. By mod-cons we mean solar thermal panels, underfloor heating, ground source heat pumps…
Get what you pay for:
Plumbers that are fully trained can charge more for their services and some employers will pay higher wages to those higher qualified. Generally plumbers that take the time to complete their training and up date their skills should be more reliable and work better than those who learn on the job. There are cases however, of companies hiring plumbers before they finish their training so that all employees are trained in the same way.
So, to be competitive in tough economy all plumbers need to be well trained and adequately certified. When given the option whether you try a cheaper plumber over a more pricey one, there’s often more to the situation than the initial cost. Don’t get cheated by paying for a poor job that will need further money and attention later on. If you need help finding a good quality plumber contact us on – phone number.

Radiant heat is a little more expensive to install than baseboard type heat. With radiant heat you need to install a mixing station if your going to have say half your home with baseboard and the other half with radiant. The reason for that is baseboard heat operates with a much higher temp. than radiant so to keep the temp. lower for radiant you would need a mixing station to keep the baseboard at 180 degrees and the radiant at roughly 130 degrees and the mixing valves and manifolds for the mixing station are not cheap.

It is not unusual for contractors to subcontract work of this type out to plumbers when working on a new building project. Not only can you get names and contact information, but also receive feedback on the competency level of each plumber the contractor mentions to you.
